Climate Change Professional Development

Gain the confidence to teach about climate change, empower your students, and connect to solutions regardless of which subject you specialize in!

Communitopia offers educators a variety of engagement opportunities designed to give you the comfort to talk about climate change, incorporate solutions into your teaching, and empower your students to take action. We know there is variability in educators’ interest and availability, so we’ve designed opportunities to engage in a MILD (little time, little commitment), MEDIUM (moderate time, moderate commitment), or SPICY (deep dive) professional development!

Climate Educator Monthly Newsletter

Communitopia is excited to provide a monthly Climate Change Newsletter exclusively for educators.

Climate change education is not well-developed in Pennsylvania’s formal education system. Therefore, resources for educators to teach the knowledge and skills students will need for the transformational opportunities in careers, community living, and consumerism that address climate change are not readily available. This newsletter is a tool to help you begin the journey to acquiring activities, resources, and solutions you and your students can utilize.

“The enduring understanding that I will take away from the Climate Change Teacher Fellowship Program is that the world becomes what we teach! Solutionary teaching has the ability to provide students with the understanding, skills, and motivation to shape a more sustainable, caring, and equitable world. Solutionary learning authenticizes learning for students and allows them to make a positive impact on their world.”
