Pittsburgh Youth for Climate Action (PYCA) 

What is PYCA? 

Pittsburgh Youth for Climate Action is a youth group hosted by Communitopia that provides high school students from across Southwestern PA a space to collectively take action on climate change. The group meets once a month and students can join in at any time during the school year. However, to make the most out of the opportunity, students are encouraged to join early in the school year, and attend all scheduled meetings.

What are the benefits in joining PYCA? 

At each meeting participants will learn about the causes of climate change and the actions that we can take, individually and as a society, to reduce climate change impacts. Students will hone their leadership and communication skills, meet guest speakers and learn about green careers. Youth can plug into bigger campaigns, like the fight to clean the region’s air and getting regional school districts to pass climate action resolutions or tackle problems that contribute to climate change.  Students are encouraged to actively participate in the Pittsburgh Youth Climate Summit each year.

Where and when are PYCA meetings held?

PYCA meetings are held in-person from 6-8pm on the third Tuesday of each month at a location in the Oakland Neighborhood. Please fill out the PYCA registration form below to join the program in Fall. Once we receive your form, we will contact you to learn more about your interests. We will then share meeting location information with you and your parent/guardian.
