SunPedal Makes it Across the Country!

In July of 2021, Shshil Ready pedaled through Pittsburgh, PA en route from North Carolina and with a final destination of Houston, Texas on a solar powered electric bicycle that he himself designed. Communitopia, in partnership with the Environmental Charter School, were honored to host Shushil while in town and greatly enjoyed learning about his cross country trip to promote solar energy and raise awareness on innovative engineering designs that are sustainable alternatives to fossil fuel.

Communitopia would like to extend a special thanks to Mitsubishi and Oriden, who sponsored Shshil’s visit to Pittsburgh and provided Communitopia with a $10,000.00 donation to further youth-centered climate activism.

While visiting with the ECS Students and Communitopia’s Climate Action Team, Shshil and his riding partner Louis were able to learn from the kids as well! “It was amazing to see how conscious the students were about the importance of dealing with the issue of climate change. The students also shared their daily life choices which were more sustainable! I had never imagined students to be so conscious,” reported Sushil after the event.
