What the…can I do?

I, like many of us, feel sometimes that the world’s problems are just toooooo BIG.  Whether it be climate change, social injustice, global pandemics - really you name it in 2020- there are a lot of issues we grapple with on a daily basis

AND it is very easy to just want to close the door, shut off the news, and dive into Instagram or tiktok and try to forget about it all.

Take climate change – this issue can be overwhelming for many of us. The constant barrage of news detailing rising temperatures, glaciers melting, species being threatened, and record storms can make us question if what we try to do in our daily lives (to quote Humphrey Bogart from Casablanca), “don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world”.

But then I step back and think of all the choices we all make in a day…

We recycle that bottle, compost that banana peel, choose reusable over disposable.  We swap our weed killer for some DIY non-toxic recipe and then choose to walk or bike over driving to the coffee shop that is a mile away from your place. Maybe we sign up for a CSA to support local farmers and it starts you thinking about what else we can do…

All of these things matter and these actions are contagious!  So I am just here to say - please don’t lose hope or feel like your simple choices are not important.  They are. So keep making those good ones. Yes  – one person will not solve climate change or social injustice in its entirety, but one person can make change and propel others to do so as well.  So recycle, skip plastic packaging, tell you sister or brother to do the same and see your impact grow.

And oh yeah – VOTE!
